The China Studies Centre (CSC) which first started operations in January 2011 is a significant strategic endeavour of the University of Sydney to harness its existing expertise in a wide range of disciplines across the University to provide a greater understanding of China and its impact on local, regional and global affairs.

The CSC encourages, organises and publishes research in China Studies from multiple scholarly perspectives, develops and delivers cross-disciplinary programs of postgraduate research and education in China Studies, facilitates community engagement with the centre's scholarly activities, and acts as an informed voice in Australia-China relations.

The CSC has currently initiated three development projects focusing on business development, public health and social change to meet the needs of business and public policy, contribute to Australia-China cooperation and provide suitable foci for development of research and teaching.
