Share accommodation
When you are in share accommodation, it means that your household shares the cost of rent and bills. You will have your own room which you are responsible for furnishing and cleaning, and you will share care of the common areas such as the bathroom, living room and kitchen. Moving into an established house can be less expensive as it may already be furnished.
As well as considering the area you would like to live in and how much you want to spend, when moving into a share house you should also think about:
- the type of household – it is quiet or more social?
- the type of people you will be living with – are they students or workers?
- arrangements for food and cleaning – is it shared and relaxed or separate and scheduled?
- is anything else needed for the house apart from the furniture for your bedroom?
Remember to confirm all the information in the advertisement and if you like how it sounds, view the room and meet your housemates before you commit to anything.
