Submission Requirements and Certification Guidelines

It is very important that applications are accurate and complete. All supporting documents you include with your application must be:

  • original documents, or
  • certified copies of original documents.

If photocopies, scans or faxed copies are sent, it is essential that the original versions of these documents have been sighted by an appropriate officer and that they are properly certified.

All certifications must follow the procedures below and appear on each page of the document:

  • Official stamp of the certifying organisation (the current home university is sufficient);
  • Full name (clearly printed) of the certifying officer;
  • Signature of the certifying officer;
  • The words "true copy of original" or "certified copy"; and
  • Date of certification.

Translations are required for all documents that are in languages other than English. Where an official academic transcript is normally issued in a language other than English, this version in the original language must be submitted as well as the translated, certified version.
Supporting documents include academic records/transcripts, research proposals (postgraduate research applicants only), evidence of scholarship/sponsorship support and evidence of English language proficiency. Additional academic information, such as portfolios, audition tapes or copies of course syllabi may be required. A full list of requirements is included in the Application Form.

Disability information

If you have a disability you could be eligible for services offered by the University of Sydney for students with a disability. If you would like this assistance, it is important that you apply for it as soon as you can, preferably before you begin your study. Disability services available in Australia may differ from those offered in your home country, so it is important for us to know what support services you require and to inform you of the support services we can offer. A Disability Services Officer can help you with your registration. Please contact the Disability Services for more information.
