Services include
- Advanced triaxial testing
- Ring shear testing
- Large shear box testing
- Rock testing
- Soil testing
- Particle processes and technology
- Simple shear testing
- Model testing in soil
- Finite element analysis of consolidation, soil-structure interaction, non-linear behaviour and crushing of geomaterials
- Piled raft design
- Contaminant migration
Research and expertise capability

The ring shear machine enables examination of the large strain behaviour of sand at the interface of a pile.
There are only a limited number of soil testing laboratories capable of performing non-standard and sophisticated soil tests. The Centre for Geotechnical Research (CGR) can provide such testing services.
Particle processes and technology can be applied to rock crushing, milling of ore and flour milling etc.
Advanced and specialist numerical analysis (such as finite element analysis) of soil and rock problems can be performed. Particle crushing technology is also available for a range of problems in geomechanics and related areas.
Special one-off model tests can be designed and performed.
Applications
Providing soil properties for use in advanced design of a wide range of structures and earthworks, such as retaining walls, foundations, tunnels, roads, embankments, landfills, slopes and excavations.
We can provide advanced means of analysis for design in the areas mentioned above.
