The Abercrombie Precinct will be located in the inner-city district of Darlington. It is integrated into the local community and provides the southern entry to the University’s main campus.
The University believes that the precinct site has the potential to make an important contribution to the Darlington community. We will improve our interface from the Darlington side of the campus, while also respecting the current architecture and being sensitive to our neighbours’ concerns and feedback.
We believe the proposed modified design enables a sensitive response to heritage considerations for residential streets because it maintains a significant setback from Abercrombie Street for the bulk of the building. At the same time the design provides a significantly scaled building that is aligned with the mission and vision of the University and our Business School, which will benefit from a new world-class facility on the site.
The design also encourages a creative and collaborative learning and research environment for the next generation of business leaders in Australia.
