The Planning Process

After extensive consultation with the local community and our key stakeholders, the project team submitted a revised design for submission to the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure in April 2012.

The project was assessed under Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (NSW).

In November 2012, the Abercrombie Precinct redevelopment was approved by the NSW Planning Assessment Commission, subject to conditions. The approval conditions include:

  • provide an alternative vehicle access point to the site (not Abercrombie Street)
  • work with the community, the City of Sydney and Sydney Metropolitan Development Authority to create a ‘pedestrian and bicycle access strategy’ for the Darlington precinct, investing $2 million in improvements.
