Opening eyes, igniting debate, making hearts race just that little bit faster.
The University of Sydney is proud to be involved with Sydney's leading festivals. We’ve been creating and shaping ideas in Australia and the world for more than a century now and we are passionately committed to the intellectual and cultural life of the city that shares our name.
At a range of events throughout the year, our academics and students engage with a vast range of disciplines – from art to health, science to film, literature to law and architecture to engineering and technology – and exchange ideas with the wider community.
We partner with the Sydney Festival, TEDxSydney, the Sydney Writers' Festival, Vivid Sydney, the Sydney Film Festival and Verge, the University's own arts, culture and fun festival.
9–24 January 2014
We’re excited to partner with Sydney Festival again in 2014. Our community of thinkers, writers and performers at the University of Sydney play a lead role in bringing our city to life. As a leadership partner of the Festival we look forward to celebrating the culture and ideas that make our city so unique.

Our principal partnership with TEDxSydney aims to help bring world-changing ideas to life, and continue to encourage brilliant thinking. The 2013 event was held on Saturday 4 May at the Sydney Opera House in front of a live audience of more than 2000 people. TEDxYouth will take place on 17 November.
For one week in May, the Sydney Writers' Festival brings together the brightest minds across the cultural spectrum, from Australia and around the world.
Sydney is transformed into a spectacular canvas of light, music and ideas when Vivid Sydney takes over the city after dark. Highlights include light installations and projections, music performances and public talks from leading global creative thinkers.
The very first Sydney Film Festival was held right here at the University of Sydney, and we are proud to continue the connection as a cultural partner. The festival showcases feature films, short films, documentaries and animation from around the world.
Verge Festival, now in its 10th year, sets imaginations on fire and turns our campus into an endless realm of creative possibility. Verge transforms campus life into all things art, music, comedy and theatre.
