Update on Director of Strategic Planning
In anticipation of completing the University’s White Paper and Strategic Plan, I have been conferring with the Director of Strategic Planning, Stefan Wisniowski, on the University’s future requirements for implementing our new Strategic Plan.
We agreed that once the White Paper and Strategic Plan are approved, the University’s strategic planning functions will evolve in such a way that a senior executive position of the kind occupied by Stefan will no longer be required. Having successfully achieved his mission of helping us to define our strategic directions for the future, Stefan will therefore leave the University on 6 August 2010. He will take the time between now and then to help us finalise the White Paper and Strategic Plan and to think through key aspects of how the University can best implement the Strategic Plan.
Stefan leaves the University with a strengthened Strategic Planning unit, whose members will continue to play an important role in supporting our planning, information and strategic development needs. Over the coming weeks we will be talking to Stefan and to key people in the Strategic Planning Office about the best way to take the team forward in this next phase.
After leaving the University, Stefan plans to take some time to attend to personal and family matters, including the international Kresy-Siberia Foundation (www.Kresy-Siberia.org) that he founded and continues to chair, focussing on the World War 2 experiences of Soviet forced labour camp prisoners, exiles and refugees.
Please join me in thanking Stefan Wisniowski for all of his valuable contributions to the University of Sydney and in wishing him all the best in his future endeavours.
Yours
Dr Michael Spence
Vice-Chancellor and Principal
