Sustainability at Sydney

The University of Sydney is committed to making a difference in its local, national and international communities. Those areas share a common area of concern – the future sustainability of our way of life.
We are the size of a small city and have a considerable environmental footprint. But we are trying to minimise that footprint wherever possible.
Researchers from across the University are engaged in wide-ranging cross-disciplinary research that aims to provide answers to some of the questions we face. Read more about some of their research.
As an institution, we are committed to improving our own environmental performance. We are driving reduction of our overall greenhouse gas emissions, and encourage staff and students to develop their own ways we can reduce our footprint. Read more about how the University is taking action to improve its own environmental performance.
It's all about making the world a better place in the future.
