Background
As a research associate in the centre, Chen focuses on using different techniques, mainly three dimensional atom probe and TEM, to characterize the nanoscale features in varies of engineering steels

Research project
Chen is working with Professor Simon Ringer and Dr. Julie Cairney on “Optimisation of nanostructure in new microalloyed strip cast steels”. He is particularly interested in using atom probe tomography and TEM to study the strengthening effects of Nb/V during ageing in BlueScope CastripĀ® steels.
