Schools Program

Hands-on Microscopy
Schools Open Day

This provides an opportunity for senior science students to visit the Australian Centre for Microscopy & Microanalysis (ACMM) and explore the world of microscopy.

These visits support their class work in biology, chemistry, physics and the environment by providing year 11 and 12 students with hands-on experience of electron and light microscopy. They also see demonstrations of specimen preparation and hear all about the historical development of microscopes. Your students can explore a diverse range of microscopic samples in ways not possible at school. Our highly experienced staff make this an engaging and memorable experience.

Each visit lasts for 1hr 45 mins and we can accept up to 35 students per group. Sessions are scheduled throughout the day to accommodate as many groups as possible. Please contact Dr Ian Kaplin, ph. 02 9351 3302, email , with your preferred time slot or to get more information.

Who: Years 11-12
When: June 22 & 23
Cost: $10 per student.

You can also find us at Science in the City, held at the Australian Museum in Sydney as part of the National Science Week.
