Percy Wong graduated with a BScAgr (Hons) in 1969 and a PhD in 1973, both from the University of Sydney. He worked in the NSW Department of Primary Industries from 1972 to 2006 carrying out research and extension in plant pathology. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal papers, conference proceedings, book chapters and extension articles. He retired from the NSW Department of Primary Industries as a Principal Research Scientist.
Dr Wong has been an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Western Sydney and Honorary Associate at the University of Sydney for some years, and is now a Senior Research Fellow at this University.
Dr Wong has worked on the biological control of soil-borne plant diseases for over twenty years and continues to research biological control measures against root diseases of cereals, pasture grasses and turf grasses. At present, his main research interests are the elucidation of the fungal causes of numerous emerging root diseases in sports and amenity turf and their management.
Teaching and supervision
Dr Wong has taught a turf pathology course for several years in the Master of Agriculture (Turf Management) degree course and has supervised Masters and PhD students.
