Celebrating the legacy of Adam Smith and the Wealth of Nations, this event examines the relationship between liberal capitalism and Adam Smith’s principles. We explore how these ideas intersect with current economic crises and pressures, including income inequality, political dynamics, global economic shifts, climate change and sustainability challenges. The RC Mills Lecture was established after his death in the late 1950s, and reinstated after our Centenary celebrations in 2020. The RC Mills Lectures have a specific focus on education, including education policy, the regulation and funding of all tiers and the role of education in society.
