Forest Systems
OVERVIEW
If you believe that forest systems are fundamental to the health of the planet and that forest play a pivotal role in ecosystem health shaping social, economic and political agendas throughout the world you will be drawn to a specialistion in forest systems. While studying you will focus on the core processes of forest health and function and develop expertise in forest ecosystem processes and how this shapes management prescriptions across a range of forest types. Graduates will be provided with direct links to national and international careers in forest and natural resource management sectors including industry, research, government and non-government organisations. Professional careers can also be pursued in management, conservation and accreditation of forest ecosystem services.
MODE OF DELIVERY
This course offers a flexible course structure to suit the specialisation undertaken. Classes may be held at one of or a combination of the following;Camperdown Campus, Australian Technology Park, Camden Campus. All classes are conducted on week days with no evening classes. Units of Study may comprise the following; a laboratory or project report, group presentation, practical and field work, lectures , examinations or literature reviews. Extensive reading is an expectation of this course and all topics are conducted by recognised specialists in the field
PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT
Many units are based on compulsory fieldwork carried out prior to the commencement of semester. All coursework students should be available to participate in fieldwork excursions two weeks prior to the commencement of semester.
