Networking Event

On Friday 29th April a Networking Event was held from 5:30-7:30pm in the Coach Bar, GPO Grand, Martin Place, hosted by Kanebridge Development, Cadmus Engineering and Paramonte Legal, in conjunction with the ALF, for students from The University of Sydney's Faculties of Engineering, Information Technology and Law.

The three hosts generously financed an open bar and delicious finger food.

In this casual and comfortable setting both commercial industry players and industry students close to graduating had the fantastic opportunity to meet with future leaders and pioneers of these dynamic industries where ideas could be discussed.

Mr Keiran Passmore, Executive Director, Engineering, faculty of Engineering & Information Technologies was introduced by MC Alison Slater of Kanebridge Development, and Keiran officially welcomed guests and outlined that students had the opportunity to apply for one of two $3,000 scholarship prizes on the night.

Applications were made online and the two winners will be selected by the ALF and the three faculties.
The $3,000 prizes can be used at the students' discretion, with the aim to assist them with their continued studies.

Charbil Khoudair from Cadmus Engineering made an inspiring speech, encouraging and praising the hard-working and ambitious students.

Kanebridge, Cadmus and Paramonte were proud to donate the two scholarship prizes, as well as a door prize of a laptop with CAD software, drawn during the event for a lucky student event attendee.

Free Public Lecture

On 30th May the ALF hosted a free public lecture presented by Mr Raymond Nader in the New Law Building Auditorium.
Mr Nader is a Nuclear Engineer, Executive Director of Noursat and CEO of Liban Message, and his insights into "The Clash of Civilisations in the Middle East and Europe" were illuminating and absorbing.

Scholarship Presentation Dinner

Following the public lecture, our ever-popular Scholarship Presentation Dinner was held in MacLaurin Hall and again it attracted a full house.

The talent awards was followed by a short talk delivered by Mr Raymond Nader, summing up his earlier excellent public lecture on The Clash of Civilisations in the Middle East and Europe.

Our evening's guest speaker, Mr Jacques El-Kallassi, was introduced by Professor Fadia Ghossayn, who presented a stirring and powerful speech on the role of the media in the Middle East.

Mr El Kallassi is Chairman of Noursat and General Manager of Telelumiere, and still manages to be active and relevant in community and charity work.

This year five deserving students were awarded an ALF Scholarship which were co-presented by the Hon John Ajaka MLC; Professor Fadia Ghossayn, Marian Theobald representing Sydney University, and Mr El Kallassi.

Nour Al-Hakim is currently undertaking a Masters Degree in Diagnostic Radiography and completed her HSC at Beverly Hills Girls High.
