Joanne Carter (B Phys '03) has been skating since she was four. She came to international prominence at just 16, when she finished in 11th place at the 1997 World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland. The result was the best world championship performance by a woman in Australian figure skating history. Then in 1998 she finished 12th in the Nagano Olympic Games, another best performance by an Australian woman. - Last updated 10/03/06
Anthony Christie (BA '01) taught English at a school in Kaiping, China, from September to December 2005. There were 500 students at the school, 40 teachers and excellent facilities. Marian Niluka Pinto (BSc '01) has graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Penang Medical College with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Obstetrics with first class honours. She joined the National University Hospital in Singapore in September.

Aleksandra Pozder (B Ec '02, M Com '03) Her journey to the University of Sydney is not for the faint of heart. Born and raised in Yugoslavia, Aleksandra's family fled their war-ravaged homeland for shelter in refugee camps in Croatia. She completed her schooling, but her family could not afford the cost of university. In October 1998 Aleksandra and her family arrived in Australia, and in 2000 Aleksandra was accepted into a Bachelor Arts degree at the University of Sydney and transferred into the Economics degree after her first year. She completed a Master of Commerce in 2003 with majors in accounting and finance.

Win Soe (MEd '03) completed his Master of Education in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in 2003 and returned to Dhurakij Pundit University in Bangkok, Thailand. He now heads the English Specific Purposes (ESP) Program at the Language Institute of Dhurakij Pundit University.

Gareth Tilley (BA '01 LLB '04) teamed up with another University of Sydney graduate, James Chegwidden (BA '99 LLB '04) in the Oxford University Moot Competition sponsored by Shearman & Sterling. Forty Oxford teams participated in the sudden death competition, on a question nof restitutionary damages. Fortunately, Gareth and James won! The final was against Brasenose College, Oxford and was judged by Justice Paul Walker of the High Court on 11 February 2006. Gareth and James are now both studying for the degree of Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at Oxford.

Megan Walter (DipFarmMgt '01) has worked on a cattle station for six years as head stockman and is now working on a 15,000-head cattle feed lot in Calgary, Canada, running the station when the manager is away on conference.

Adam Wand (BA '00 LLB '02) has worked for the NSW Attorney General's Department in Sydney, as a foreign lawyer at Anderson Mori Attorneys in Tokyo, and with Freshfields Bruckhaus Derringer, the world's third largest law firm in London. Whilst in the UK, Adam achived a Masters in International Relations as a Sir Arthur Simms Trabelling Scholar at the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Civil Law (Law Master) with Distinction at St Edmund Hall College, Oxford. Adam recently returned to Sydney and was appointed policy advisor to the Hon Cherie Burton MP, NSW Minister for Housing. Adam has also been elected to the National Committee of the Australian Republican Movement.
