On Thursday 27 March more than 400 guests packed the MacLaurin Hall to celebrate two historic occasions: the 125th anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering and the 25th Anniversary of the Warren Centre. Following drinks and canapés, guests took their seats to listen to the keynote speakers - some of the best known names in Engineering, politics and business: John Grill, CEO of Worley Parsons Limited (BSc '66, BEng (Civil) '68), Frank Sartor MP (BEng (Chem) '76), George Maltabarow, managing director, Energy Australia (BEng (Elec) '74) and Peter North AM (BEng (Mech) '58). The speakers ranged across entertaining and stimulating topics including personal experiences in their various fields, the future of engineering in Australia and the global marketplace and how far Engineering has come over the past 125 years. The addresses were followed by a lively panel discussion with the guest speakers, joined by Dean of Engineering, Professor Greg Hancock and engineering student Winey Suen. Ms Suen gave the gathering a great insight into why she chose Engineering and where she would like to see herself in the future of Engineering.
