SUGUNA Activities

SUGUNA holds Annual Conferences which include lectures, sporting events (golf, tennis, etc.) and social functions (barbecue, dinner) for the purpose of meeting and keeping in touch with fellow alumni. Members and friends present lectures on a variety of topics of interest to the membership, ranging from pure sciences (chemistry, geology), applied sciences (molecular biology), health sciences (medicine, dentistry, veterinary science), engineering, architecture, arts, literature, business, economics, travel and personal hobbies.

In addition to the Annual Conferences, SUGUNA members can hold local meetings when appropriate.

SUGUNA History

SUGUNA was founded in 1990 by William Lew, Warwick Harvey-Smith and Clifford Kwan-Gett who contacted their classmates that they knew to be in North America. In addition they placed an advertisement in the Gazette and obtained a listing of Sydney University graduates in the U.S.A. and Canada. The first meeting was held in 1991 and there have been Annual Conferences each year since then. Year of Conference, location and attendance has been as follows:

SUGUNA Jim Wolfensohn Award

This consists of a sterling silver plate donated by Jim Wolfensohn to be awarded annually to a SUGUNA member in recognition of academic or other achievements. Past recipients of this award are as follows:
