Design Modelling and Fabrication Lab

Outstanding facilities
The Wilkinson Building has one of Australia’s best-equipped fabrication and prototyping labs.

The Design Modelling and Fabrication Lab (DMaF Lab) houses a broad range of fabrication workshops that enable the production of design prototypes, objects and models. The DMaF Lab is recognised for its comprehensiveness and its fostering of integrated and collaborative design and fabrication approaches.

These labs include:

  • Timber Fabrication Lab
  • Metalastics Lab
  • Digital Fabrication Lab
  • Robotics Lab
  • 3D Media Lab.

The DMaF Labs are a hub for research, innovation and advanced fabrication. The leading-edge facilities include a wide range of 3D Printers, laser cutters, robotic arms and CNC technologies alongside traditional fabrication spaces.

Access within all areas of DMaF Lab is strictly subject to completion of the Safety Induction and Competency Course. This ensures that all users of the lab are informed about the operation of its extensive and complex machinery in a safe manner.

Currently enrolled students and research projects are a priority for the lab, which means that no external jobs will be considered during semester weeks 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. The DMaF Lab cannot guarantee access to non-Sydney School of Architecture Design and Planning users.
