2011 Faculty Alumni Awards Presentation Evening

Alumni and staff at awards event

Held in the Holme and Sutherland Room, Holme Building on 3rd August, the evening was a celebration of the tremendous achievements of the Faculty’s alumni members over 2010 and 2011.
Since the 1920s, the Faculty’s alumni have led the fields of architecture, design and urban development. Their successes are manifest in the built environment both at home in Australia and around the world. For 90 years, our alumni have demonstrated not only the scope of their professional ambition and achievement but also the community spirit and egalitarianism that grounds their achievements.
The Alumni Awards recognize the outstanding achievement of the Faculty’s alumni. These awards represent an opportunity for the Faculty to gather together its alumni and congratulate them on their endeavours in the preceding year. The awards ceremony this year was twice as illustrious, presenting awards to the winners of two years of the event, 2010 and 2011. More

Sandra Kaji-O

Over the past month Sydney has been enriched by the engaging and magical light sculptures that are part of Vivid Sydney: A Festival of Light, Music and Ideas. We have, literally, seen many of our most treasured and iconic buildings, in a new light. Twenty-four of the light installations were curated by alumni Mary-Anne Kyriakou. Mary-Anne holds a Graduate Degree in Design Science in Illumination from our Faculty and a Masters in Music Composition from the Conservatorium of Music. Mary-Anne is also the recipient of the 2011 Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning Alumni Award for Community Achievement. Like all our Alumni Award winners, Mary-Anne has demonstrated the capacity to direct the knowledge she gained here into the broader public and professional arena. More

Fun, Fare and Future Alumni

Alumni supporting students

Fun, Fare & Future Alumni is a hospitality program aimed at connecting local and international students with our alumni. Gatherings hosted by alumni provide an opportunity for students to meet and engage with their fellow students and alumni families, enabling all to share academic, professional and social experiences and foster new friendships.
In May, two of our alumnus hosted gatherings which both were great fun and huge successes!

David Turner and Robert Cahill events.

We are always on the lookout for alumni who are interested in hosting events with our students, so if this is something you might be interested in doing, please contact Nell for more information.
