Dean's Reception 2011
Professor John Redmond, Dean, Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning welcomed over 90 alumni to the Dean’s reception prior to the Wilkinson lecture on Monday 24 October 2011.
Architecture, Design and Planning alumni enjoyed the opportunity to hear John Redmond's vision for the Faculty over the next couple of years. 'As we strive towards being the Number one Faculty in Architecture, Design and Planning, both within Australia and internationally, what exactly are we working towards? Being number one is about being known for having the most relevant and exciting theorists, the most exciting research-lead practitioners attracting the most outstanding students and research candidates.'
Professor Redmond took the opportunity to elaborate on the Faculty's research strategy, introduce new staff members and speak of the passion for the built environment that is common between our students, staff and alumni. ‘This passion, and the mutual desire to work at the cutting edge is the glue that binds the Faculty and its alumni community together.'
'Alumni are an integral part of our Faculty. We value the support we have received from alumni, in the way of mentoring, hosting student hospitality events and of course philanthropy' he said. 'But what we mostly value is your moral support. Our alumni are our ambassadors and advocates within the community as well as volunteers within the Faculty. This is an essential component in us being able to achieve our aspirations. This evening is my opportunity to thank you.'
