So far, this degree has challenged the way I approach design and has also changed the way I view the daily city. It allows for interaction, discussion and collaboration with people from different backgrounds and professions, which provides alternative views of Urban Design. Practically, though, the most enjoyable part of the degree has been emphasis on design and representation, in particular the design studios where the theory gets put into action.
One of my goals from this degree was to make connections with people in both Australia and around the world. I now have a solid enough foundation in planning to make reasonable and objective decisions regarding community issues. One of the aspects of the degree I have enjoyed most has been the ability to tailor the degree to best suit my personal interests. Studying at Sydney University has allowed me to focus on specific areas of urban development and expand my knowledge in this field.
