Welcome to the Planning Research Centre
The Planning Research Centre (PRC) seeks to further fundamental research into the physical planning and development of cities and metropolitan regions.
Our activities are guided by a number of aims and objectives:
- Undertake applied research on urban planning issues in New South Wales and Australia,
and to widely publicise and communicate research results;
- Provide seminars and round-tables highlighting cutting-edge research in the field of
- Provide a forum for politicians, senior civil servants and consultants to
discuss issues of importance to planning in New South Wales;
- Provide continuing professional education to urban planners in New South Wales.
The PRC hosts an active program of events by sponsoring seminars in specialised fields, holding professional development courses, and promoting the publication of research material. Many of our events carry professional development points with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA). The PRC has strong links with community, industry and professional planning practice and an active membership comprised of academics, members of government and industry, and practicing planners.
