UPE10 Symposium

The 10th IUPEA (International Urban Planning and Environment Association) Symposium, will be held in Sydney in July 2012. UPE10 will promote critical and informed dialogue between planning researchers and practitioners on a wide range of related topics including:
- Emerging models of carbon neutral or pollution free growth
- Templates for “eco-certification” extending beyond buildings to whole neighbourhoods, precincts and suburbs
- Urban agriculture, local energy and water security, waste absorption and reuse
- The tensions implicit in new environmental pricing and policy instruments, and social equity and
justice implications arising at regional and international scales - Drivers, impacts, and responses to international and domestic processes of migration and population change
Befitting its location in Australia, which is defined by a deep and enduring indigenous Aboriginal culture with ongoing traditions of land management and stewardship, UPE10 also seeks to promote inter-country dialogue on indigenous planning and environmental perspectives, interests, and rights.
