CPD and Short Courses
The Faculty of Architecture, Design & Planning offers a wide range of single unit and short course options for CPD (Continuing Professional Development) or to update knowledge, enhance career pathways or explore a personal interest.
If you are considering further study it is also an opportunity to try a subject from a program to gauge its suitability. Some subjects are taught in intensive block-mode, condensing a whole semester into four to six days, making them easier to fit around work, family and other commitments, others are taught weekly, often in the evening. For up-to-date timetable information please visit see the current timetable.
These single subjects are available only to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and citizens of New Zealand. Participants are expected to complete the assessment work and if successfully completed, will be eligible to receive credit towards a future degree. The granting of credit is subject to faculty resolutions as specified in the Faculty of Architecture, Design & Planning handbook.
What Can I Study?
CPD units are drawn from across our wide range of postgraduate programs within the Faculty, and are available to students who meet any listed prerequisite requirements or previous studies.
For a full list of units on offer including prerequisites, unit descriptions and current course coordinators please see the Faculty Handbook.
How to Apply
Students wishing to apply for individual units of study should apply for a place in ‘Architecture Postgraduate Non-Degree'.
Your application should include any details you may have of previous study such as certified transcripts, or in cases where you have not studied at tertiary level before, a CV outlining your experience in related fields.
Please note that there are no minimum requirements to Undertake CPD units. The application portal is designed for all applications to the University, therefore the document upload section is extensive and will not apply to most CPD applicants.
Once you have applied, please email and inform them that your CPD application is in the system so they can track it using your student number.
Once you have received an offer of a place, you may choose which units to undertake by accepting the offer online and then visiting our Student Administration Centre during the weeks leading up to start of Semester to complete the enrolment process.
If in the future you decide to work towards a complete degree, whether it be Certificate, Diploma or Masters - you will be eligible for credit towards the program within the framework of the specific degree requirements. (ie; meeting all core, optional and elective units applicable.)
