Curriculum Vitae
Nathalie Jean Baptiste is concluding her PhD at the Department of Spatial Planning and Research at the Bauhaus University Weimar in Germany. She is also affiliated with the Department of Waste Management at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Weimar. Her field of work revolves around the socio-spatial context of solid waste in developing communities.
Since 2004, Nathalie collaborates regularly with local governmental agencies, establishing guidelines to ensure continuity in biological treatments of household waste and developing strategies to improve waste education and awareness.
In June 2008, Nathalie joined a multidisciplinary community of scholars at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning at University of Sydney. Her academic interest extends to people and the organic waste they produce, urban ecology, environmental education, sustainable behaviour and cultural differences. Through her work, Nathalie hopes to provide another clarification to the current perspective of sustainability in the urban context.
Based on the principles of advocacy, participation and pragmatism, Nathalie’s work aims at generating knowledge through action. Currently she is researching on food waste issues in Sydney.
