GOVERNMENT INFORMATION PUBLIC ACCESS ACT

On 1 July 2010 the NSW Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 came into force, replacing the NSW Freedom of Information Act.

The University's Right to Information Officers are available to provide advice on the operation of the Act in the University.

People wanting to make an application should speak to these officers before lodging their application. It may not be necessary to make a formal application. Under its policies and through its web sites and numerous other publications, many University documents are publicly available.

Students and staff are able to access routine student and staff files without a formal application.

These pages explain the GIPA Act and its operation in the University.
