Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens Hostel

The Institute’s Hostel is a self-contained, comfortable, flat on the corner of Promachou and Parthenonos Streets in the inner Athens suburb of Makriyianni. The flat is situated very close to the Acropolis and the Acropolis metro station and guests can enjoy a view of the Parthenon from the balcony of the Hostel lounge. The Hostel is very close to the Finnish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian Institutes as well as the Italian Archaeological School and the Nordic Library.

Makriyianni is a residential suburb and its tree-lined streets and convenient local shopping make the Hostel a pleasant place to live in, even for an extended period. Its location provides easy access to the Acropolis, the ancient Agora, the attractive district of Plaka, and Syntagma Square. Residents also have easy access by metro or trolley-bus to Panepistemiou Street, Omonia Square and the National Archaeological Museum, as well as the libraries of the Athens Archaeological Society, the French School, the German Archaeological Institute and the British and American Schools.

All AAIA members, people related to the Institute’s Institutional Members, academics, teachers, students and even members of the general public interested in cultural tourism are welcome to stay. Priority is of course given to archaeologists and students of archaeology.
