Postgraduate Study

Research degrees

If you have already completed some studies in Archaeology in your undergraduate degree, you can apply to start postgraduate research in the Department of Archaeology.

The general requirement for entry into the MPhil or PhD program is a good Honours result in Archaeology, either a First Class or Second Class (First Division) grade. If you have not completed the Honours year but have an undergraduate major in Archaeology, you are eligible to apply for entry into the MA (Research) program.

If you have already completed a degree without studying Archaeology, you can enrol in an Undergraduate Diploma to complete the equivalent to a major in Archaeology. You may then continue on to Honours, providing a pathway to the Research postgraduate program.

Coursework degrees

The Department of Archaeology currently offers units of study within the Ancient World Studies program, an interdisciplinary program that draws on archaeology, ancient history, classics, philosophy and studies in religion.
