The Power Institute is pleased to announce that in collaboration with with the Consulate General of Switzerland in Sydney and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, we will be hosting a mini symposium on the great Swiss German artist Paul Klee, to be held at the Art Gallery's Centenary Auditorium.
The symposium Paul Klee in Peace and War: Tunisia and the German Home Front 1914-18 will focus on Paul Klee's famous voyage to Tunisia a century ago and his role in WWI. Highlights include lectures by Klee scholar Dr. Michael Baumgartner, Senior Curator at the Zentrum Paul Klee, Bern, Switzerland as well as Australia’s leading expert on modern German art Dr. Jacqueline Strecker. Symposium convener Professor Roger Benjamin from the Department of Art History and Film studies at The University of Sydney, in his own lecture will draw on his forthcoming book Kandinsky and Klee in Tunisia (Berkeley, 2015).
