ARC Linkage funding has been awarded to researchers in the departments of Media and Communications, Linguistics and Art History and Film Studies.

SLAM researchers have enjoyed success in the recently announced Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage funding scheme, with every application submitted by SLAM researchers receiving funding.

Warm congratulations go to the research teams:

  • Dr Avril Alba and Associate Professor Jennifer Barrett who are partnering with the Sydney Jewish Museum to explore and extend scholarly understandings of the public impact of Holocaust history and memory in the Australian context.
  • Dr Tim Dwyer, Dr Fiona Martin and Dr Monika Bednarek who are partnering with Associate Professor James Curran from the School of IT, along with industry partnership from Mi9 and Share Wars in the first Australian study to analyse the scale, scope, forms and implications of online news-sharing on Facebook and Twitter.
  • Dr Penny O'Donnell who is working with a team based at La Trobe University who are partnering with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), National Library of Australia and Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance for an innovative and timely analysis of the role of mass redundancies, forced career changes and the digital reinvention of Australian journalism at a time of industry restructure and technological change.
