Using the AV Language Library & Self-Study room
Location: Arts Digital level 2, Brennan MacCallum building
This is a closed-access reference audio-visual library and its purpose is to support the learning of languages other than English (LOTE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) within the University of Sydney.
Use of the Arts Digital AV Language Library & Self-Study room is ONLY for students & staff of the University of Sydney.
You are required to bring your current student card in order to exchange it for a CD / DVD in the AV Language Library.
English as a Second language
The AV Language Library provides access to interactive self paced learning multimedia kits for students of English as a 2nd language:
Of particular interest may be the pronunciation, listening and speech practice resources. Much of the material is specific to Australian situations, speech and idioms.
Those interested in learning more about how to use the English as a Second Language (ESL) resources may book into information sessions.

Curriculum Language Materials
These include audio and video recordings which are used in the undergraduate language courses offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
To assist language students the AV Language Library holds a collection of self-teaching courses and reference books including dictionaries, encyclopedias, grammar handbooks, atlases, etc. Some recorded lectures are also available.
All materials are generally available from the computers located in the Self Study on level 2.

Non-Curriculum Language Materials
In addition to curriculum materials the library also maintains a collection of self-teaching audio-visual kits in over 100 languages. These are available to all students and staff from the University of Sydney.
