About the ACAAA
In July 2006 the University of Sydney established a Centre for Asian Art and Archaeology within the Faculty of Arts. The Centre was set up to coordinate, consolidate and expand existing teaching and research in the fields of Modern Asian Art and Asian Archaeology, and to couple these with work in the fields of pre-modern art not previously covered in Australia - in particular pre-modern Chinese Art and Islamic Art and Architecture.
The Centre aims to:
- foster innovative teaching and research in the field of Asian art and archaeology
- develop, arrange and conduct educational activities, postgraduate and research activities, lectures, seminars, conferences, publications and courses of education, and
- increase research and teaching positions in the areas of Asian art and archaeology.
