Chinese Chair Culture Group Meeting

Chinese Chair Culture Group

Bring along all your questions about Chinese language and culture learning!

Get to know China from peers with a Chinese background. Meet and make new friends of different nationalities who share common interests.

The Cultural Group is a casual bi-weekly meeting group focusing on Chinese culture appreciation and cultural sharing between non-Chinese students and Chinese native students in the Department.

There are two sessions in each meeting covering different topics. You are welcome attend either one of the two sessions or both sessions.

Volunteer Chinese native students are invited to help explain and share cultural knowledge with the students who are learning Chinese language and culture in the department. Various mini activities will be organized in each group meeting. It is a platform where you may relax, chat and make friends! Bring all your questions about Chinese language and culture, and more importantly, your interests in and curiosity about China!

Practise your Chinese with fellow native Chinese-speaking students!
The purpose of this event is to help students who are learning Chinese at the beginner or intermediate levels.

Chinese native speaker students studying at the University of Sydney are invited to volunteer as student tutors to form small groups with Chinese learners to help with their study and practise conversational Chinese. A member of the Chinese Studies teaching staff is available in every session to support and help these group activities.

This has been running for many years and has provided a good opportunity for students from different cultural backgrounds to meet and help each other. We have received very positive evaluations from the students, especially from the volunteer helpers who said they have benefited greatly in gaining their first experience in teaching Chinese to foreign students.

All are welcome! We look forward to seeing you there!
