The Indo-Pacific Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge

We’re pleased to announce the first event of its kind in our region: The Indo-Pacific Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge! This interdisciplinary competition is hosted by the Sydney Cyber Security Network in partnership with the Atlantic Council and the Centre for International Security Studies.

In the Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge, student teams tackle a major – fictional but realistic – cyber attack and develop policy recommendations that respond to this evolving crisis. The competition is designed to provide students across academic disciplines with a deeper understanding of the policy challenges associated with cyber conflict, as well as a unique opportunity to interact with expert mentors and senior professionals in cyber security.

Who can compete

Students enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, professional, or law program, including students in military academies, on the date of the registration deadline are eligible to compete. Each team must consist of four students.

Who can participate

In addition to the student competitors, participants include coaches (who help teams prepare), judges (experts with significant policy and cyber security experience), and sponsors (organisations that support next-generation cyber security education and talent). The competition will take place before a public audience, so anyone interested in cyber security is welcome to watch!
