24 April, 2013
CISS Associate Professor Jing-dong Yuan recently published a chapter in edited volume of Deep Currents and Rising Tides by Georgetown University.
The chapter, titled ‘China and the Indian Ocean: New Departures in Regional Balancing’, examines two key drivers behind China's inroads into the Indian Ocean: its growing dependence on maritime trade and resource imports and the emerging domestic debates on the imperative of pursuing seapower as China continues its ascendancy to great power status.
