The purpose of the Research Group 'World Cinema, The Image and The Senses' is to foster interdisciplinary research into the broad disciplines of World Cinema and photography. In particular, the group focuses on the materiality of the film and photographic medium, their hapticity and texture, and how they affect the viewers’ senses. The question of how filmmakers and photographers working in other cultures or between cultures use cinema and photography to transmit the physical sense of human experiences, of place and culture is also one of the foci of the research group.
