Students can undertake studies in Arts and Social Sciences subjects which may complement the Bachelor of Social Work, such as sociology and social policy, gender studies or philosophy.
If you are interested in a career as a social, youth, health, welfare or community worker, or in the areas of crisis work, residential care, administration, research, policy development or counselling, this degree offers you the skills and knowledge to achieve your goals.
Students undertake integrated studies in social sciences, social policy and social work theory and practice, with a strong emphasis on Australian and comparative social welfare studies. In the last two years of the degree students undertake the professional social work program, which includes fieldwork placements supervised by highly skilled and experienced practitioners in a variety of settings. These placings are an essential part of the learning experience.
