Matthew Smith is a graduate of the universities of Melbourne (B.Com) and Sydney (M.Ec, PhD). He has published in international journals, including the History of Political Economy, European Journal of the History of Economic Thought and the Contributions to Political Economy. He is also the author of Thomas Tooke and the Monetary Thought of Classical Economics, Routledge, London, 2011.

Dr. Smith currently serves as the co-editor of the History of Economics Review. His research interests include classical economics, monetary thought and growth theory.
