Judith Yates has an extensive publications record on a wide range of housing issues and is currently on the Editorial Board of Housing Studies. Recently she completed her three year term as director of AHURI's national research venture 3 on Affordable Housing for Lower Income Australians.

She has contributed to government inquiries and ministerial committees on housing in Australia and has been a member of the Australian Statistics Advisory Council and a board member of the Commonwealth Banking Corporation, the Housing Loans Insurance Corporation, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, and the Home Purchase Assistance Authority. She was appointed to the newly formed National Housing Supply Council in 2008.
