Success starts here: information for first year students

The Orientation and Mentoring Program will prepare you for academic, professional and personal success during your studies in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences by supporting you to:

  • Be connected with a senior student Mentor in your area of study and learn from their experience
  • Gain knowledge about your degree, your field of study, and the opportunities available to you as a student in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
  • Develop practical skills in academic writing, career planning, digital literacy and study at a university level.
  • Build your networks, find out about joining clubs and societies, meet new people and become an active part of our community.

Your Orientation and Mentoring Program begins in Orientation Week on Monday 23 July 2018 with a day of valuable skills-building workshops, talks, seminars and networking opportunities on campus, guided by your own senior student Mentor who is an expert in your area of study.

The Orientation and Mentoring Program then continues throughout your first six weeks of univeristy with your Mentor organising get togethers at a mutually suitable time, answering your questions and giving advice on academic, professional and personal success at the University of Sydney.
