Forking Paths: Film Screening Programme

7 August, 2013

A group of Honours students in Film Studies have curated a film series, Forking Paths, which runs from late August to late September and is designed to encourage reflection on the way we watch movies.

Bringing together half a dozen films, Forking Paths is an elegant exploration of the formal possibilities of the medium. Screening on Wednesdays from 4pm in Old Geology Lecture Theatre, the series brings together classic twentieth-century auteurs like Ingmar Bergman and Akira Kurosawa with contemporary directors such as Wong Kar-Wai and Leos Carax. Focusing on the link between form and content, the series as a whole demonstrates that, as the curators note, “Nothing comes from nothing, and every choice means something.”
