Description

This unit is required for the major in the intermediate language stream. We will study the development of French national and cultural identity in modern times, with an emphasis on the social transformations France has undergone in the twentieth century and the political challenges it confronts in redefining its role in Europe and the world. The unit will also develop reading, analytical and critical skills through close study of a variety of authentic texts.

Assessments

2 x research projects (each equivalent to 2000wds) (40%), 1x written text analysis (equivalent to 1000wds) (25%), 1x10 minute dramatised group tutorial presentation (each equivalent to 1000wds) (25%), tutorial participation (10%)
