The Department of Modern Greek focuses on post-classical Greek language and culture, with a historical and geographical range from the end of the ancient world to contemporary Greece, Cyprus and the world-wide Greek diaspora, including Australia.
The department offers students a stimulating environment in which to enhance their understanding of Greek culture. Postgraduate students can utilise their linguistic and cultural knowledge in a diverse range of areas including education, the media, the arts, law, medicine and social work.
Our postgraduate research students work on a wide range of topics. For information on current or recently completed postgraduate projects, visit the Department of Modern Greek Studies Postgraduate Research page.
The Department of Modern Greek offers the Nicholas Anthony Aroney Research Scholarship, of $7,500 annually over a period of three years to a postgraduate student who is studying Master of Arts (coursework or research) and above, within the Department of Modern Greek Studies.
