Admission Procedures

There are two aspects to your application for admission to a postgraduate program in Gender Studies or Cultural Studies. You must approach:

Arts Faculty Office Admission

Obtain an application form from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences office.

Please note that original evidence of their academic record and citizenship or residency status will be required at the time of lodgement. Photocopies of academic records will only be accepted if they have been officially signed and certified as true copies of the original by the issuing institution. Alternatively, original documents with photocopies may be presented at the Faculty office for sighting. A birth certificate or passport with photocopies certified by a Justice of the Peace or by the Faculty office will be accepted as proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Enrolment

Once your application has been successful you will be sent a letter of offer. Enrolment in all courses is then managed by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Please find information about enrolment on the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences website.

Consulting the Department

All potential postgraduate students should contact the Postgraduate Co-ordinator.

Research candidates will need to ensure that there is appropriate supervision available and should consult with the department over the 1000 word research proposal required by the application form.

Coursework students should discuss which degree is most appropriate for them with the co-ordinator. This is also an opportunity to discuss what kinds of units might be appropriate, including whether or not dissertation units might be included in your degree (a 500 word proposal will be needed before you enrol in Dissertation Part 1).
