The research strengths of the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies are in media and cultural studies, gender and sexuality studies, philosophy, critical race studies, visual culture, sociology, literature, post colonial theory, online cultural studies, rural cultural studies, youth studies and cultural history. The Department has a strong record of publications, research supervision and research grant success.

Networking Gender and Cultural Studies
The Department is actively involved in developing international collaborations with researchers around the world. As a major partner in the World University Network's Gender and Climate Change Network, we are developing projects with universities in the UK, USA, China and Singapore.
The Department includes four members of the Australian Research Council's Cultural Research Network and two members of the Academy of the Humanities.
