Biographical details

Dr Ferran Martínez i Coma is a Research Associate at theElectoral Integrity Project. Prior to this position, he was a Technical Adviser for elections for the General Direction of Interior Policy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in Madrid, Spain.

Ferran has published in Electoral Studies, Party Politics and Applied Economics Letters as well as in Spanish academic journals. His dissertation –a comparative study for 20 elections of 7 democracies during the 1990’s- entitled “Why do electoral campaigns matter? (¿Por qué importan las campañas electorales?)”, was published in 2008 by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS).

He was appointed Assistant Professor at Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas in Mexico City (from July 2007 to March 2010). He was the Project Manager of the “México, Las Américas y el Mundo” and “Las Américas y el Mundo” research projects.

Ferran has previously served as a Senior Advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office in Madrid (from April 2010 to December 2011) and as a Technical Adviser at the Barcelona’s City Hall Department of Studies and Evaluation (from February 2006 to June 2007). He has also been a short term observer for the OSCE in the Kazakhstan presidential election of 2005.
