Professor Susan Park

Susan Park is Professor of Global Governance in International Relations at the University of Sydney. She focuses on how international organisations and global governance can become greener and more accountable, particularly in the transition to renewable energy. She has been a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics, Oxford University, the Technical University of Munich, American University, and the Centennial Centre in Washington DC. Her work has been funded by the Australian, Canadian, British and German governments.

Susan has two current research projects. The first, funded by a Australian Research Council Discovery Grant (2023-2025) is titled "Global Governance, Eco-Justice, and International Grievance Mechanisms." It seeks to identify whether international grievance mechanisms can work for communities and ecosystems after harm has occurred as a result of international development projects.

The second research project, also funded by the AustralianResearch Council Discovery Grant (2023-2025) is titled "Global Governing Gaps and Accountability Traps for Solar Energy and Storage." This collaborative project involves working with colleagues from the University of Toronto, Guelph and Bath. It examines how the transition to renewable energy such as solar PV, wind, and lithium ion batteries for EVs and storage is being governed in the transition to a more sustainable world.

Susan is a lead editor of the journal Global Environmental Politics.
