HSTY2009 - Black Experience in the Americas (2002)

For the most part the student feedback for HSTY2009 was very positive, with 94% of students describing themselves as "satisfied with the quality of this unit of study" (Q.12).

Some students expressed concern, however, that the essay was disproportionately weighted (50%) in terms of the overall assessment, given that there was no tutorial paper on which to receive feedback earlier in the semester. On the other hand, several students mentioned how much they enjoyed having a longer essay than in most senior level courses. In light of this I have decided that in 2003 students will submit a 500 word essay synopsis early in the semester. This will be compulsory but not assessable.
