History Department Response to Student Feedback
HSTY2665 - Festivals and Faith (2006)
Unit Coordinator: Dr Julie Ann Smith
The overall satisfaction rating for this course was very pleasing at 91%, with student comments such as ‘professional’, ‘inspirational’, ‘clear’. Some students were concerned that the course was too Christian, and others that it was not Catholic enough. It seems that the term ‘popular’ has been understood to mean ‘pagan’ when in the context of this course it indicates the religion of the people. The course description may need to be modified to ensure that this focus is very clear to students. I try to keep a useful number of books in Special Reserve but some students still found some difficulties in accessing books for some topics. As all topics are shared out evenly among the class, the only solution seems to be to place more works in SR when the course is offered in the future.
